How to read this
Wave height is the average height of the biggest waves in open water. Period is the seconds between waves: longer means more power. New to the words? Check the Surf Lingo dictionary.
The rating
Our 1–5 rating weighs wave size, swell period, and wind. The “good for” label is a rough guide by wave size. Every break is different; local knowledge always wins.
Stay safe
This is a computer forecast, not a live observation. Always check conditions in person, swim near lifeguards, watch for rip currents, and never paddle out beyond your ability.
