Waimea Bay

North Shore, O'ahu, Hawaii

A birthplace of big-wave surfing. When large winter swells hit, Waimea’s outer reef breaks with giant waves, and the bay is home to the famous Eddie Aikau big-wave event, which runs only when waves are big enough. The shore break alone can be dangerous, so enjoy it from the sand.
